DENIM WAFFLE
Introducing UpcycleLino, a groundbreaking initiative that represents the collaborative efforts of domestic factories in Japan to revolutionize the fashion industry's approach to zero waste production. Launched in 2021 after years of meticulous planning and countless trials and errors, this project aims to address the issue of clothing waste while providing support to local manufacturers.
This season marks the fourth year since the launch of the UpcycleLino project. New items will be released using upcycled fabrics, mainly denim scraps. Simple cut-and-sew items will be released from the "UpcycleLino BASIC" line, which offers minimalist, timeless unisex wear.
The denim scraps used for recycling were from discarded cutting scraps from previously developed and released UpcycleLino denim. This upycling initiative can be seen as part of our reallization for a circular economy, as it involves the recycling of already upcycled products.
This textured fabric has a unique stripe-like appearance due to its unique construction. Meticulously crafted to ensure that the yarn does not break, resulting in a fabric with a tight texture and appropriate thickness and weight, even though it is a waffle fabric. The knitting process is done in Wakayama prefecture, while the finishing process is done in Osaka, Japan.
